Documentary making is our passion. Be it a personal ambition or part of someone else's desire to tell the world their story - we will listen, shoot and give it all the attention it deserves.
Being the cameraman on one of New Zealand's longest running TV series - Gone Fishin' - is more than just a job, it's an adventure with an old mate. Graeme Sinclair, the host (and everything else on the credit list) is the sort of guy that we can't help but admire and be inspired by. Even seven years in a wheelchair due to the wrath of Multiple Sclerosis hasn't slown him down or dampened his enthusiasm for fishing.
Filming a fishing show is often over-glamourised by others. The fact is that you are there to do a job and ensure a show gets made despite the rough seas, freezing or unbearably hot weather, rain, cramped conditions and sometimes 24hr days. I'm often asked if I get to fish and my answer is a short 'no'. I'm not there to fish.
Some of the highlights have been Arnham Land in Australia's Northern Teritory where the above photo was taken. We'd just moved from this spot when a 10 ft crocodile appeared to reclaim it! Another memorable moment was dropping anchor in a remote lagoon in the Vanuatu Islands at the end of a long hot day and the entire crew were able to swim and snorkel at their leisure. And who can say they've swimmed and dived with Sea Lions in the wild? We did off the South Australian Coast in 2007!
By the way, over six years I've only partially drowned one camera... and later resuscitated it. Not a bad record.
...or what went on behind the camera.
